CSU Recycling Guide
This is a sorting and recycling guide for the CSU campus. If you live on campus, use the recycling bin in your room or apartment to collect recyclables and sort them according to this guide. Mixed Containers (Plastic, Glass, Aluminum):

- #1 & #2 narrow-necked containers (water and pop bottles, shampoo) - no caps
- Any container stamped #3 - #7 (except those listed under Unacceptable Items)
- Wide-mouth containers stamped #1 - #7 (e.g. butter, cottage cheese tubs, etc.) - snap-on lids okay
- Yogurt containers stamped #1 - #7, snap-on lids okay
- Clear clamshells (e.g. sandwich or cookie containers from the deli or bakery), stamped #1 - #7
- Personal care/Rx bottles stamped #1 - #7
- #7 Nalgene bottles
- Aluminum cans, foil, and containers (No food and drink left)
- Clean green, clear, and brown glass
- Clean tin cans

- Frozen entree microwave trays
- Food trays or party platters, even if stamped with #1 - #7 (due to contamination issue)
- Film (e.g. shrink wrap, Saran wrap, etc.)
- Plastic bags
- Automotive chemical containers, including motor oil and anti-freeze
- Pesticide containers
- Styrofoam containers
- #5, #6, #7 compostable bottles or cups (these will be marked "compostable" by the manufacturer)
- Pyrex
- Kitchen glassware

Newspaper, Magazines & Paperboard:

- Newpapers and anything included in the newspaper (inserts, ads, coupons)
- Magazines and catalogs
- Junk mail (opened)
- Paperboard (cereal boxes, pasta boxes, cracker boxes, etc)

- Phonebooks (there is a separate bin for phonebooks)
- Cardboard Boxes (there is a separate bin for cardboard boxes)
- Plastic bags (grocery stores often collect them for recycling)

- Computer and white paper
- Colored paper (pastels only)
- Envelopes (with or without plastic windows)
- Glossy/Coated paper
(fax, brochures, advertisements)
- File folders and index cards
- Books

- Paper towels or napkins
- Newspapers, magazines, or paperboard (there is a separate bin for these items)
- Phonebooks (there is a separate bin for phonebooks)
- Food wrappings and wax or plastic-coated papers like paper reams

Call Facilities Management Integrated Solid Waste at (970) 491-0113 for the following:
- Styrofoam peanuts
- Pallets/Wood
- Laser printer cartridges
- Fluorescent tubes
