FAQ

Q: What are the Requirements to Live in the Apartments?

To qualify as an Apartment Life resident you must:

  • Be a CSU undergraduate student carrying at least 6 credit hours per semester or a CSU graduate student enrolled in one credit hour or continuous registration. Students may need to provide a letter from their advisor verifying their eligibility. Students do not have to be registered for summer classes, but must be pre-registered for the following fall semester.
  • Be a CSU faculty or staff member. Faculty and staff residents are required to be full time employees, post-doctoral fellows, or visiting faculty. Faculty and staff may live in the apartments if space is available after all students have been placed.

Q: I Submitted My Application Recently; When Will I be Assigned an Apartment?

Priority on the assignment list is determined by the date of completed application for the assignment period you wish to move in. Notification of assignment is made by email approximately 3 to 4 weeks before the date of requested occupancy based on availability at that time. Priority is given to CSU Students then to Faculty/Staff applications that have an academic focus. Please keep us informed of any email address changes. Information regarding your address must be accurate to insure your receipt of an apartment assignment.

Q: Can I Get My Deposit Back if I Cancel My Application?

Yes. The deposit is refundable at any time prior to your assignment. Your deposit will be refunded to your Colorado State University billing account. If there are no outstanding charges, the deposit will be mailed to you in the form of a check or as a direct deposit if previously arranged with the CSU Cashier's Office. To initiate a refund, contact:

Q: When is My Deposit Non-refundable?

Your deposit is non-refundable when:

  • The office sends you an offer and you don't respond within the time limits given by the Assignment Coordinator.
  • You accept/confirm an offer of an apartment, but you change your mind later (cancellation). In this case the deposit might cover part of the rent charges until the apartment is rented. A maximum of 30 days rent would be the responsibility of the applicant in case of cancellation.

Q: How Does My Apartment Lease Work?

Month-to-month and Academic-year leasing options are available. The academic year lease can have a start date between June 1st and the University's fall census date (usually the 2nd week of September) and runs through May 31st of the following year. To terminate either lease, the resident needs to submit a completed "Notice of Intent to Vacate" form to the apartment area office. This must be done at least thirty (30) days in advance of actual date of departure. Residents will be responsible for rent for a period of at least 30 days after the date the "Intent to Vacate" is given.
