Activities and Programs
Apartment
Life provides a unique international environment and encourages residents
to become involved. Each apartment community has live-in student staff
who work with residents to provide a wide range of programs. Exciting
opportunities are available for social, recreational, and cultural interaction.
Potlucks, barbecues, slide shows, and volleyball are just a few examples.
Apartment Life strives to create an inclusive and culturally rich community.
To accomplish this goal, each living area develops an event calendar
unique to the particular area. Central
Programs works with the Apartment Life
staff in providing unique and enriching programs for the residents,
CSU campus, and the Fort Collins Community. Additionally, Central Programs
collaborates with the CSU and Fort Collins communities to assist in
creating enriching programs for the community. To learn more about Central
Programs, visit their Web site.
Some of Apartment Life's ongoing events/programs include:
Knowing the World - University Village has made
a commitment to showcase a different culture each month by developing
educational events that often include delicious food and entertaining
music. - The Valentine's Day Dinners - Each area prepares dinner and provides entertainment for residents to enjoy on an evening dedicated to the celebration of relationships. Games and prizes are often a part of the evening's program. In past years, the evening has included childcare.
- Halloween Children's Carnival - Central Programs produces an afternoon of entertainment and fun for the entire family. Last year the carnival included an age-appropriate spooky house, games of chance, cotton candy, popcorn, and plenty of laughter.
- International Week - International Student Services works with Central Programs to create a week for celebrating the diversity of the world we live in. The week-long events conclude with a large festival.
- No Limits to Learning - Many of Apartment Life's
residents are non-traditional students. Students and family members
who attend the "No Limits to Learning" week develop
skills
for a successful academic experience. "No Limits to Learning" typically
includes a carnival for children, a health fair, workshops focused
on how to achieve academic success, and much more! - Community Pride - Aggie Village takes a great deal of pride in the beautiful gardens that enhance the grounds and University Village at 1600 West Plum Sreet. The Community Pride program offers residents the opportunity to plant gardens and possibly win a prize for their efforts.
- Aggie's Summer Bash - The Bash is a day-long festival that includes a volleyball tournament, safety program, and cultural fashion show. Summer bash celebrates community and is typically held in the month of June.
- International House and Lory Apartment Holistic Health Fair - Held at the International House, the Holistic Health Fair affords the Fort Collins community an opportunity to develop an awareness of alternative medicine. The event hosts a local area acupuncturist, chiropractors, and dietitians. Additionally, participants can learn more about biofeedback, massage therapy , and herbal medicine.
International Children's Carnival - During the
carnival, children of all ages enjoy games, crafts, and performances
from around the world. The carnival is a day filled with multicultural
learning and fun!
